The Grand Canyon has a reputation of a great place for star viewing and I spent a night out on the rim. It was very cold. A difficult location to photograph and illustrate the depth but imagine a hole deep in the ground big enough to hold the entire Statue of Liberty. To the right is a 234 step spiral staircase (made from the hull of a World War I battleship) taking us down 165ft of the full 410ft deep cavern.
